COME ON SING FOR ENGLAND.
A Football song, written by chance - FATE!!!

So we are in the car just heading home from Manchester Airport, having been away on holiday. I said to Rory, “although we’ve had a great time, I Love England”. I said it so sincerely it seemed strange. I repeated the words a couple of times and then said “I love England, it is my home, wherever we roam.

Sounds like the start of an England song I thought, an English football song maybe. I reached for a pen, and began to write. By the time we got home, I had written a chorus and five, four line verses, and in my mind a melody to go with it. This was back in October 2007. I told myself that nearer to the next World Cup, I would work on it.

March 2009, out it came, after re-reading the words, I challenged myself to make a demo CD. With no musical background (except a few organ lessons at the age of 9) I had to get others to hear my proposed basic tune, and then get initial feedback.

A kids toy piano was was my start. I marked all the keys with the representing letters, wrote down letters which made up the right sound, and hey, I was on my way

Jessica Kelly, a young employee and qualified piano teacher, listened to my solo piano performance, she then interpreted the notes into sheet music. Now Rorys turn, although not musical either, he spent many nights generating a more fluent sound on computer.

Now taking shape, people could follow the idea better. Dan Pickton another employee,
in his final year at college, studying music and music technology, agreed to produce a backing track using his schools recording studio. I was looking for a sincere and patriotic type sound, he produced just what I wanted to hear.

From there, taking advice from many sources and implementing minor changes, the song developed. Someone who heard it said I should submit it to the FA as a contender for the officially nominated song. I rang the FA for details and a new personal challenge was set.

With melody, words and backing track, all I needed now, was singers. I was helped here by the local Drama group. My God Mother arranged for fellow committee members to help her suggest possible singers. So with her 4 singers, 4 Nags Head Staff & 1 customer "Come on Sing for England" was recorded.

I am not a wanna be music writer, performer or producer. I have no intention to write another song, this just happened. Everyone who helped, volunteered their time, including the guys who filmed the community video. Orchard  Studio at Alsager also agreed to help with the recording, and so the demo CD was finished. It's not the best England Football Song, but there is something special about it, it's simple, catchy and memorable, and the verse words lead England to victory. I have done the best I can and met my original challenge, now the song needs a professional arrangement and singers to beef it up. The result we have, however, is proof that with determination, you can achieve any realistic goal.

All Done, the song and video can now be seen and heard on ‘youtube’ The song is called “COME ON SING FOR ENGLAND” By, aptly named “Team Inspired” click to hear the song .

Now the song has been sent to the Football Association, and Simon Cowell, - Challenge Number 2: Can it become the Nominated 2010 World Cup Song for England ?. To gain popularity, please listen and tell all your friends, family and collegues to listen also, your support will help.

The song, we know is a little choiry, but we are making headway. So far local media coverage includes, Cheshire FM, Bolton FM, Heart and BBC Radio Manchester. Newspapers - Chester Chronicle and Bolton News and TV - Granada Reports News. Who knows where it will all lead.
